Does Drake Use Autotune?

Drake uses a significant amount of autotune correction in his songs. Whether on the stage or in the studio, he takes the help of autotune software to sing. His use of autotune can be heard in songs like In My Feelings and Passionfruit.

Drake uses Antares Autotune 8 for central pitch correction. The autotune is an integral part of his singing because he is not the most talented singer. He struggles to hold the tune and hit the correct pitches without the help of a pitch correction device or software.

In this video, you can see and hear his performances without the autotune. Although he used autotune heavier and more often earlier in his career, today, he is still using it but in a more subtle way.

Some rappers like Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Future, and Travis Scott use the autotune effects to augment the vocal sound as well as correct the wrong notes. However, Drake’s way of use is more subtle and aimed at correcting the pitch and making the final touches to his vocals.

Drake’s style is more focused on singing and rapping rather than talk-rapping. And he actually can sing decently, which is the reason he does not need huge help from pitch correction. But, for the final touches and to be sure that he is on the pitch, he gets the support of autotune on the stage and pitch correctors like Melodyne in the studio.
